HMI Rehabilitation Technology and Training Centre has been designed to remove the complexity associated with adaptive aids and integrated services into one simple integrated community service. We incorporate the entire requirements of an individual to ensure the functionality and optimum performance to help an individual realize their potentials for work, education and life through adaptive aids technologies.
Established in 1989, HMI's primary purpose is to aid in the process of providing access to adaptive aids and relating services through a four-step process:
Technical aids exploration and testing.
Product and/or service delivery.
Training, tutoring and support services.
Integrated community involvement.

Technical Support Manager
I am a 37 year old, single father & up until the last few years I was quite capable of raising my two son’s on my own. However, as a result of my Austio Arthritis growing steadily, I have been unable to do many of the things that I love to do. At this stage in my life I am even in pain just trying to walk, let alone attend any functions.
My vocational experience includes 17 years of computer technology as well as management and corporate policies and procedures development in the telecommunication field. I have also obtained a vast knowledge of customer relations, earning praise and recognition for my innovative ideas from the governments of British Columbia and Canada.
I suffered a major case of frostbite resulting in the loss of all feeling in both of my hands as well as the loss of one of my fingers, on top of that I was diagnosed with Degenerative Austio-Arthritis. I was unable to obtain even a part time position in any company as they were all afraid my employment would compound my injuries and add to their compensation claims. I was just resigning my self to the fact I would never be employed again when I was pointed in the direction of HMI. After a few phone conversations and an interview with Jeff & Richard they offered me the job of Technical Support Rep. on the basis of my knowledge & experience, shelving all my disability issues. By hiring me, HMI has done what no other company or business has done and I respect and appreciate the chance that they have given me. Now I am assisting others with various disabilities to "remove barriers" through assistive technology solutions and to prove that disabled doesn't mean unemployable or unworthy!
